This treatment guideline is to be used for products, cannabis oils, that are only endorsed by Medical Cannabis Dispensary. Here are the general guidelines for using cannabis oil to treat cancer, however remember that diet, lifestyle and exercise are just as important. Please take the time to read the information below. If you are still interested in the medical grade oils MCD endorses and have any further questions, please do let us know.
There is a lot of misconception of using the oils to treat cancer, mainly the necessary dosages. To treat cancer, much higher dosages are required. The rule of thumb is 90 grams in 90 days or closest thereto. Both CBD and THC in their own right are both vital cannabinoids for treating cancer.
Our best advice would be to come up with a treatment plan, whatever it may be and stick to it. Often people tend to hop around in desperation and end up losing the battle before anything was given the chance to work. Diet is step 1, Alkaline and no sugar!
Most of the people we treat choose the oils over conventional western medicines that have let them down. No one likes to get high! If the oils are used correctly this can be avoided altogether. Often people choose to go the medicinal cannabis route in conjunction with chemotherapy. Cannabis oils even in much lesser dosages, using tinctures, will help with the symptoms of cancer and or chemo. Mainly, pain, naus, apathy, and sleep.
Cancer treatments usually last anywhere between 3 to 6 months. We recommend a scan after 3 months. Please remember that there is no one-size-fits-all approach when it comes to dosing – it’s different for everyone and dosages vary depending on the individual.
STORAGE OF CANNABIS OILS
Cannabis oils are best kept in the fridge when not being used. If this is not possible, store in a cool dry dark cupboard. The oils have a shelf life of many years.
Suppositories need to be placed in the freezer bullet point down and left to set for 3 to 5 hours. Please store in freezer and take out to administer.
DIRECTION FOR USE
For dosing using a tincture, do not dilute in water or juice. It’s easiest to accurately dispense the drops from a tincture into a teaspoon and then consume. Otherwise drop directly into your mouth.
CBD is bitter and if you are “uncomfortable” with or dislike, the taste then you can take with a little honey to sweeten it.
Cannabidiol (CBD) Oil
Cannabidiol (CBD) refers to Cannabis oil with a high content ratio of CBD which promotes general good health and well-being, benefits neurological disorders, and treats various ailments, specifically cancer. CBD is a natural anti-inflammatory and effectively treats the pain associated with inflammation. CBD is not psychoactive, doesn’t get you ‘high’, but unlike the nutrient supplement Hemp CBD products sold at health shops, it has THC in it in order to render it effective. Without THC it is useless –this is also called the entourage effect.
The medical cannabis CBD strain used in the CBD products MCD endorses is a 20:1 strain (CBD to THC).
Dosage: Dependent on type and stage of cancer. The minimum advisable dosage is CBD 75mg Capsule 1x daily OR 10 drops (20mg) 3x daily using a tincture. It’s always best to keep CBD in your system. If one is unable to dose 3x a day, twice will have to do. (the total dosage divided by 2 dosages a day). In later stages of cancer, and or with more aggressive forms of cancer higher dosages of CBD are necessary, 150mg CBD plus daily is advisable.
Added Benefits of CBD Oil
CBD cannabis oil, taken alone, effectively treats the following conditions;
- General Health Wellbeing
- Hypertension (High Blood Pressure)
- Heart Disease
THC Oil (Delta 9)
Suppositories allow one to administer the very high dosages of THC cannabis oils needed to treat cancer. Suppositories bypass the liver and are therefore relatively non-psychoactive allowing for a high dosage, 500mg, from the onset. THC Suppositories do not make you high.
In case where the cancer originated or has spread to the liver it is vital to take higher oral dose of THC as suppositories are not as effective.
Dosage: 500mg THC suppositories 1x daily, morning or night is normally sufficient.
THC Oral Dosage (Tinctures or Capsules)
THC can make you ‘high’. However, if you micro-dose using a tincture in drops, it will allow you to build up a tolerance over a short period of time (days). This will enable you to take the necessary dosages to deal with the cancer within a month. There is no one-size-fits-all approach with THC cannabis oil dosing – it’s different for everyone. Most, if not all people we help, have to get on with day-to-day life and can’t afford to be high.
The medical cannabis THC strain used in the THC products MCD endorses is a 12:1 strain (THC to CBD).
Dosage: Start on low dosage, 2 drops, to be safe, and increase as you feel comfortable until the desired dosage is reached. If you feel “high” or abnormal, decrease dosage and remain on same dosage for 72 hours before increasing it again. Dosing twice a day, morning and half hour before bed. When necessary one can increase the night time dosage, as the psychoactive effect would be slept off.
Dosage is dependent on type and stage of cancer. The minimum advisable dosage of THC oils is 50mg a day and dosages go as high as 400mg a day and even higher. Tinctures are used until one reaches the minimum dosed capsule of 25mg. Capsules are more convenient method of dosing.
MCD’s topical of cannabis infused lotion balm and essential oils that are absorbed through the skin can be applied to affected areas. For skin and breast cancer add topicals and leave to air-dry before covering.

Our topicals are 1000mg of THC cannabinoid extract base combine with essential oils in a 30ml ointment jar.
Dosages at a glance

WHAT DETERMINES THE QUALITY OF CANNABIS OIL
MCD endorsed cannabis oils are all made from medical grade organic cannabis (flowers) only. The oils are processed in laboratory conditions using the latest technology similar, if not the same, equipment used in the legal states of America. Co2 based extraction cannabis oil is the latest, cleanest, toxin (solvent) free and most expensive extraction technique requiring specialised machinery. The entire process from soil to oil is controlled, after all what you put in is what you get out. The oils are not lab tested.
Everyone’s tolerance varies, rather be safe than sorry. Start low and increase dosages until desired dosage is reach. This way one avoids getting high altogether. If too much THC, THCA and or CBN oil is consumed too quickly a “high” or “stoned” feeling could be experienced, a general change in perception, euphoria(heightened mood), and an increase in appetite. Short term side effects may include a decrease in short-term memory, dry mouth, impaired motor skills, red eyes, and feelings of paranoia or anxiety. In the event of getting high it’s best to take a nap and sleep it off. The “feeling” will pass.

Why it cannabis oil expensive? Read more about the cost and process on our website.
The oils are not cheap because the medical grade cannabis used is from the buds or flowers and not from waste plant matter such as leaves, stalks and seeds. Anyone selling you oils cheaper is more than likely using an inferior quality raw product to produce the oils, and the extraction methods are also dated leaving residue solvents behind. Our extraction techniques and machinery are the same as those used within the legal states of the United States. It has taken over a decade to get to this point and we are not aware of anyone producing the quality of product, using our sophisticated processes and deliver our level of expertise within South Africa.
Ask the following questions before buying or ingesting any cannabis oils:
- What grade cannabis are you using to make the oils? It should be medical grade, and buds not plant matter, not trim, seeds or stalks. Only flowers.
- What colour is the final oil product? It should be a honey color, not black goo, or green. CBD has a red tinge. The colour is the best indicator of the quality of the oils you are planning on digesting.
- What extraction methods are you using? Regardless of the extraction method used it’s more important to know that all solvents which may have been used in the process have been properly purged. The RSO technique is dated and often dirty.
Please note: cannabis oil should be a honey colour by nature, not black. Factors which influence the colour of the oils are the extraction methods and the material used to produce the oil (see our FAQ page for more details). No medication is made to be stored in syringes. Syringes state on them use once and dispose.
Smoking, vaping and cannabis infused teas will not cure cancer but may help with the symptoms.
MCD is unable to comment on “other” cannabis oils whose origins are unbeknown to us. We recommend reading about cannabis oil in South Africa before making any decisions.
