CBD Oil In South Africa
About CBD Oil
Medical Cannabis Dispensary is proud to bring you some of the purest, strongest and most consistent CBD Oil available on the South African market – the result of extensive work to ensure that all our CBD Oil is produced from top quality organic CBD cannabis.
CBD is a cannabinoid found in both cannabis and hemp. By using carefully controlled organic cannabis – which only contains trace amounts of THC – we ensure that our lab can extract all of the CBD goodness. Our CBD Oil contains less than 1% THC, which means it’s impossible to get high from it. Using the most hygienic and least intrusive methods to extract the oil, the pure CBD Oil is completely free from any herbicides, pesticides, GMO products, preservatives, or any other form of additive. So that you are getting pure CBD in its oil (MCT Oil) carrier – nothing else added.
Medical Cannabis Dispensary CBD Oil has a recommended daily dosage of 5-10 drops, 2-4 times a day, depending on your ailment or condition. Because CBD oil is a perishable product, it needs to be stored in a cool, dark place (ideally a fridge).
Our CBD oil should not be confused with hemp or hemp seed oil which are sold at health shops. Be aware – this type of oil is an expensive nutritional supplement and will not aid in treating any of the ailments which CBD oil can assist with (see list below). Hemp or hemp seed oil contains less than 0,03% THC, compared to our CBD Oil which contains 1% THC. The THC component is too low for any psychoactive effect to occur however it is essential as part of a whole plant extract in order to produce the entourage effect.
What is CBD (cannabidiol) ?
Cannabidiol or CBD is a natural ingredient found in hemp and cannabis. In recent years, this ingredient has been at the forefront of many exciting scientific studies and investigated for its huge range of effects and applications. CBD appears to have a high degree of medicinal value and it is not psychoactive at all – in other words, it’s impossible to get ‘high’ from usage.
Scientific and clinical studies indicate that CBD could be effective in easing symptoms of a wide range of conditions such as diabetes, epilepsy, PTSD, rheumatoid arthritis and neurological disorders. CBD has demonstrated neuroprotective effects, and its anti-cancer potential is currently being explored at several academic research centres around the world. CBD is both anti-proliferative (retard the spread of cells) and tumour reducing whilst at the same time having analgesic, anti-inflammatory and anti-anxiolytic effects. This is essential in cancer treatment for pain, inflammation and anxiety. THC and CBD work synergistically with each other in the elimination of cancer.
CBD Oil And Properties
Cannabis is renowned for its active substance THC (Delta 9-Tetrahydrocannabinol), which is responsible for the psychoactive effect known as ‘getting high’ or ‘stoned’. However, THC is just one of the cannabinoids which have significant healing properties. There are more than 80 different cannabinoids in cannabis. CBD (cannabidiol) has the widest range of healing properties as you can see in the table displayed. Scientific studies have shown that CBD has a significant effect on neurological and physiological disorders, such as:
How CBD Works In The Body
The endogenous cannabinoid system was named after the cannabis plant. Endocannabinoids and their receptors are found throughout the body: in the brain, organs, connective tissues, glands, and immune cells. In each tissue, the cannabinoid system performs different tasks, but the goal is always the same: homeostasis, in other words the maintenance of a stable internal environment despite fluctuations in the external environment.
Scientists discovered that there are receptors in the human body that responds positively to chemical compounds (cannabinoids). Cannabinoid receptors are present throughout the body, embedded in cell membranes. When cannabinoid receptors are stimulated, a variety of physiologic processes ensue. Researchers have identified two cannabinoid receptor systems:
- CB1, predominantly present in the nervous system, connective tissues, gonads, glands, and organs; and
- CB2, predominantly found in the immune system and its associated structures.
Known beneficial effects of CBD are:
- Pain relief
- Suppresses muscle spasms
- Increases efficacy of the immune system
- Reduces blood sugar levels
- Reduces nervous system degeneration
- Treats psoriasis
- Reduces risk of artery blockage
- Suppressing appetite
- Reducing vomiting & nausea
- Reducing contractions in small intestine
- Relieves anxiety
- Tranquilising, used to manage psychoses
- Reduce seizures and convulsions
- Kills or slows bacterial growth
- Treats fungal infection
- Inhibits cell growth in tumours/cancer cells
- Promotes bone growth
- Promotes brain tissue growth in alcoholism
