Hypertension usually has no symptoms but acts as a precursor to heart attack, stroke and heart failure. Hence, it is notoriously known as “the silent killer”. High blood pressure (HBP), its more common name, is a disease that affects many people. In some it may only be slight, while in others it can be very severe. It is a very common condition that many people are familiar with, but aren’t sure what the causes are or how to treat it.
Blood pressure is a measurement of the force of blood against the artery walls. More blood pumped by the heart and narrower arteries, means higher blood pressure. If left untreated, it can lead to more serious complications, such as heart disease or stroke.
The causes of hypertension are unclear. There is no one specific way to develop high blood pressure. One form, known as primary hypertension, develops gradually, over many years. Genetics, diet and lifestyle are important contributing factors. Secondary hypertension results from other medical conditions, such as kidney and adrenal gland problems, endocrine disorders, pregnancy and congenital defects, to name a few.
CBD is a haemodynamic regulator that maintains a steady flow of blood throughout the body. It acts as a vasodilator by relaxing smooth muscle and widening the arteries. This decreases the pressure exerted against their walls and improves blood flow. CBD soothes inflammation and reduces plaque formation driven by atherosclerosis, improving cardiovascular health. It also reduces the blood pressure rise in response to stress or anxiety.

IMPORTANT NOTE
Always speak to your doctor when considering cannabis as a treatment aid. Take great care to safely store products and not expose children or pets unintentionally.
THC products are psychoactive, causing one to become “high”. These are to be used with special caution in children, pets and persons prone to anxiety or stress. Depending on the unique situation, it may be appropriate to substitute THC with non-psychoactive THCA. CBN and 1:1 oils may also cause mild psychoactive effects.
However, if products are used correctly, it may be possible to avoid the psychoactive effect entirely. Should you feel uncomfortable or have any questions at any time, our trained team of staff are on standby to attend to your concerns.
